"Awakening in Winter"

The greater the uncertainty
The more I cling to what is lost.
But I never wanted everything;
I never knew the cost.

This thirst unmoved to be fulfilled
By words that enter only dreams.
A future opens, hard and still,
And broken at the seams.

Refusing to be bound to this,
I shall forget what has been done;
This grey and aging, empty bliss
Renewed for life begun.

I wander like a little child
As the shadows of the world close in.
I turn away from love defiled,
A truth's Awakening begins.
